A total of 22 participants attended this course which was organized for the first time by the International Ticer School in cooperation with the Dutch Association for Library, Information, and Knowledge Professionals (NVB). At the end of this two-day course, everyone received a questionnaire, and it was sent by mail to the participants as well. 14 questionnaires were returned of which the suggestions and comments that were given, were all very valuable for Ticer. Programme
28% of the participants could easily discover the structure in the programme, while 43% was neutral. 57% of the participants thought the programme was overfull, which was mainly caused by the short presentations that the most part of the participants gave on the problems c.q. issues concerning return on investment in their organization. On one hand they were evaluated as informative, but on the other hand it took time of the breaks in which participants normally have the valuable possibility to network with their peers. Some general suggestions on the programme were:
- Structure and lectures were good, perhaps a three-day course is better.
- Good to see that there is not a really good answer to ROI statements for libraries; everybody seems to struggle and is trying to develop this. That is good to know.
- Just have a couple of 5-minute presentations.
- More practical models for determining return on investment.
- If the workshop was held during the day (afternoon), the outcome is probably better. After a full-day of only consuming information, you do not have enough energy left to participate full in a workshop.
- The focus was understandably on the economic side, but there should nevertheless be at least one presentation on the human factor and HR consequences.
